How to Install PDF Arranger with winget

If you manage Windows software from the command line, you can install PDF Arranger with a single winget command. One fact first, because it shapes how much trust to place in the channel: the winget package is an unofficial, community-maintained package. It is not published by the PDF Arranger project — what it does is fetch and install the project’s official MSI installer for you. This guide shows the command, how to verify what got installed, and the manual alternative.

Step 1: Install with winget

Open Terminal, PowerShell or Command Prompt and run:

winget install PDFArranger.PDFArranger

winget resolves the package ID PDFArranger.PDFArranger, downloads the installer the package points to, and runs it. Follow any prompts the installer shows. On a current Windows PC the whole process usually takes a minute or two, most of it download time for the 63.3 MB MSI.

What you actually installed

Underneath the convenience, nothing exotic happened: the community package installs the official PDF Arranger MSI — the same 1.14.0 program you would get by downloading pdfarranger-1.14.0-windows-installer.msi yourself. If you want maximum certainty about the file, the manual route lets you verify the SHA-256 hash before installing: the official 1.14.0 installer hash is the one listed in our Windows install guide, and the check itself takes one certutil command. Treat winget as a convenience layer over that official installer, not as a separate edition of the software.

Before installing, you can also inspect what winget knows about the package with winget show PDFArranger.PDFArranger, which displays the version and installer details the community package currently points to. Checking that page is a good habit with any community package: it shows you the exact version you are about to receive, so you can compare it with the current 1.14.0 release before deciding whether to use winget or the manual download this time.

Step 2: Launch and verify

Open the Start menu, search for PDF Arranger, and launch it. Open a PDF, drag a page to a new spot, and export a copy with File > Save As. A correct export confirms the install. You can also confirm the program is registered the usual Windows way — it appears in Settings > Apps > Installed apps, because an MSI install is exactly what happened.

Updating and removing

  • Update: winget upgrade PDFArranger.PDFArranger upgrades it when the community package has a newer version; winget upgrade --all includes it with everything else.
  • Remove: winget uninstall PDFArranger.PDFArranger, or uninstall from Settings > Apps like any other program.
  • Version timing: because the package is community-maintained, a brand-new upstream release can take a little while to appear in winget. The manual download never has that delay.

Prefer clicking to commands?

Nothing about winget is required. If you would rather download and run the installer yourself — and verify its hash on the way — follow our Windows MSI install guide, or start from the download page. You end up with the same program either way.

The short version: winget is a handy way to install PDF Arranger, the package behind it is an unofficial community package, and the software it installs is the official MSI build. Keep those three facts together and you are using the channel exactly as intended.
